MALMÖFESTIVALEN 2022 - 2024

Malmöfestivalen is Scandinavia's largest city festival. For eight days, Malmö's streets and parks are filled with approximately 1.4 million festival visits who take part in concerts, dance, music, circus, food and other culture. In 2022, 2023 and 2024, Elin from NANNA has had the assignment as booker/program curator at Malmöfestivalen and has been in charge of for the program in the festival's children's area, Barnlandet. The assignment included, among other things, booking and curation of program content, budget management, negotiation, contract writing, pre-production and coordination, implementation and on-site program responsibility

During the festival, Barnlandet is visited by thousands of families with children who take part in art, music, theatre, circus, workshops, sports and other fun.

2024

In 2024, Elin commited to bring Barnlandet to a new level by creating an even more interactive world for children to explore and play in. With a rich range of installations, performances, workshops, art, science and physical activity, the aim was that Barnlandet would provide children the same sense of creative freedom and adventure that a nightclub in Berlin gives adults.

This year, the children got to play and build in a maze of hay bales, experience interactive space shows, dance their way through an art-parkour course with magical portals, create with clay, straw and beads, sew with Japanese repair techniques, relax in the festival library, bake ukrainan dumplings, listen to comics read by wrestlers and cool off under a recycled umbrella canopy or with water from the fire truck during the hottest day of the festival – to name a few highlights.

2023
In 2023, Elin made a bigger investment in art, architecture and interactive installations. Among other things, the visiting children built a large wooden work of art together, wove a wall, built a small ocean and created a vertical moonscape out of clay. They could also walk around a squeeze-friendly jungle of water containers filled with red liquid, play with Catalan wooden games, relax in the festival library, watch tons of shows, do experiments or watch the cycling music machine that also sprayed snow and bubbles, to name a few examples. Sydsvenskan's test patrol gave Barnlandet a rating of 10,000 glasses (out of a possible five).

2022
This year, a completely new stage was erected at Barnlandet – Manegen, a large circus tent with a capacity of 700 people. Elin booked a diverse lineup ranging from Kokobäng and Bröderna Lindgren to children's improv with Dilan and Moa, a fairy tale drag show, and children's sing-alongs. The rest of Barnlandet was filled with various activities, including art workshops, tricky wooden games from Catalonia, a hobby horse jumping course, circus performances, a magical tram, a quiet corner with an underwater theme, a bicycle concert, and numerous hands-on activities like different types of dance, tennis, table tennis, circus school, robot programming, and building with Fixa Rummet, to name just a few. Sydsvenskan's test team awarded Barnlandet five out of five langos in their review.

This year, the Malmö Festival was awarded the LiveApan prize by Svensk Live and was named "Event of the Year" with the following motivation:

"In a time of polarization and constant new conflicts, it is nice to be reminded of the event's inclusive potential. To encourage community with openness, welcoming attitudes, and accessibility.

The event of the year has taken hold of its city's cosmopolitan nature and made it its mission to reflect its multicultural, diverse population. Regardless of class, ethnic background, or sexual orientation, there is an equally accessible and permissive meeting place here. Completely free in the heart of the city for eight days."
